Airfare- Skiplagged

I recently wrote a post about airfares and some tricks to get a cheaper fare than what’s advertised on the airline’s sites. I’ve had a few readers reach out to me to tell me about a website called SkipLagged that I’d completely forgotten about.

SkipLaggedhelps you find cheaper fares by looking for hidden city routes (booking from city A to B with a layover at C when you only intended to fly to C in the first place), throwaway tickets (only flying the first half of a round-trip ticket as I described in my post) and other tricks. I have never used SkipLagged, but they were the subject of a lawsuit a few years ago. The airlines weren’t too happy about someone exposing these tricks and simplifying everyone’s access to them. If I remember correctly, you still can’t buy your ticket on SkipLagged; they’ll tell you about the fares, but you have to go to the airlines’ websites to book the ticket. The airlines were so annoyed that they lost the lawsuit that they blocked SkipLagged from being able to access their booking system, lol.

I’m sure there are similar websites out there and other ways to get your airfare down, so please let me know, either by emailing me or posting in the comments below. Getting cheap airfares is one way to help your wallet and take longer trips, so why not take full advantage of whatever tools we can find to make it happen?
